The cel setup is based on the landmark episode "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" from the original series in 1970, in which Daphne finds an ancient mask and is kidnapped by ghastly ghouls who want it for themselves. The whole gang are present with Scooby ready for a scrap but being held at the tail by Norville "Shaggy" Rogers while Fred, Daphne and Velma watch from the doorway. A mix of pure comedy and suspense that defined a generation of Saturday morning animation.

Limited editions such as this were produced to preserve the artistry of traditional cel animation after most original production materials were routinely destroyed. Each cel was individually hand-painted on acetate and paired with a studio-approved background, often matching to the original, ensuring collectors could own a piece of animation history as they originally enjoyed, with direct lineage to the show's creators.
