ABOUT THE IMAGE: As shown in “Tom and Jerry Model Sheet,” a model sheet is a group of drawings which illustrate different poses and expressions of a cartoon character. Because a number of animators work on a single cartoon, model sheets are circulated and used as reference toward giving uniformity to the look and feel of a character
throughout a production. The “Tom and Jerry Model Sheet” cel began with a master inking from the original animation. It was then silk-screened onto an acetate sheet or “cel,” along with a seal of authenticity. Each cel has been expertly hand painted with hand-painted accents to capture the delicate line quality, and the edition number of the cel’s production run, has been hand inked on the lower right-hand comer. The background is reproduced in the fine-art giclée process from original model sheet drawings.
