ABOUT THE ARTIST: Artist-writer William "Bill" Berg was born in Tacoma, Washington and attended art school in Los Angeles. He joined Disney in 1938 as a trainee, starting out as an animator on “Pinocchio," but later switching to the story department and writing scripts for various Donald Duck shorts, Mickey Mouse Club, and Wonderful World of Disney. One of his notable contributions was that he helped create the character of Ludwig Von Drake, Donald’s brainy uncle. Berg also worked on the 1959 short “Donald in Mathmagic Land,” which was nominated for an Academy Award. Before retiring in 1988, he wrote and illustrated the Lady and the Tramp spin-off comic strip “Scamp,” which was published in more than 400 newspapers around the world.
