ABOUT THE FILM: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a 1937 American animated musical fantasy film about a lonely princess living with her stepmother, a vain Queen. The Queen worries that Snow White will be more beautiful than her, so she forces Snow White to work as a scullery maid and asks her Magic Mirror daily "who is the fairest one of all." For years, the mirror always answers that the Queen is, pleasing her, until Snow White comes along.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was produced by Walt Disney Productions and originally released by RKO Radio Pictures. Based on the 1812 German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, it is the first full-length cel animated feature film and the earliest Disney animated feature film.
ABOUT THE MEDIUM: Original Production Cels are one-of-a-kind pieces of art that were used in the creation of an animated film or television show. Each has been hand-painted by studio artists on a piece of celluloid acetate and has been photographed over a background painting to create a frame of the finished production.
This cel is an original Courvoisier Gallery Setup. The Courvoisier Galleries in San Francisco were the first to offer original Disney animation art. From 1937 through 1946, they sold and distributed Disney production cels, drawings, and related materials from several features and shorts in specially prepared set-ups, which included custom backgrounds, certificates, and mattes.

Tom Everhart is a celebrated American painter whose work uniquely bridges the worlds of fine art and popular culture through his exclusive use of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts characters. Initially trained at Yale School of Art and later mentored by Schulz himself, Everhart transitioned from traditional illustration and architectural rendering to a bold, expressive painting style after a life-altering battle with cancer in the late 1980s.
