ABOUT THE ARTIST: Monte Trevor Carlton is an American artist. While he painted throughout high school, his first artistic passion was acting. Although he was offered an art scholarship, Trevor decided to pursue his dream of becoming an actor and moved to Los Angeles.
Amidst the chaos of auditions and callbacks, Trevor paid the bills by working in a custom furniture store, specializing in antiquing and faux finish designs. It was here that a style was born. Using reclaimed lumber as his canvas, Trevor started painting images of vintage Americana with subjects ranging from iconic celebrities to the famous Blues greats.
Using wood, albeit an unorthodox substrate, lent itself well to Trevor’s need to push the envelope and explore new avenues of artistic expression. Soon he was perfecting his signature distressed style by painting a raw canvas to create the appearance of wood and then using solvents and sandpaper to give the piece an overall “distressed” look.
ABOUT THE FILM: Mulan is a 1998 American animated musical historical action-adventure film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation for Walt Disney Pictures. It is based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan and was Disney's 36th animated feature and the ninth animated film produced and released during the Disney Renaissance.
The film's plot takes place in China during the Han dynasty, where Fa Mulan, daughter of aged warrior Fa Zhou, impersonates a man to take her father's place during a general conscription to counter a Hun invasion.
Produced and released during the Disney Renaissance, Mulan was the first of three features produced primarily at the Disney animation studio at Disney-MGM Studios (now Disney's Hollywood Studios) in Florida. Development for the film began in 1994 when a number of artistic supervisors were sent to China to receive artistic and cultural inspiration. Mulan was well received by critics and the public who praised the animation, plot, characters, and musical score. It earned a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination and won several Annie Awards including Best Animated Feature. A 2004 direct-to-video sequel, Mulan II, followed. A live-action adaptation directed by Niki Caro was released on September 4, 2020.

ABOUT:
Tom Everhart is a celebrated American painter whose work uniquely bridges the worlds of fine art and popular culture through his exclusive use of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts characters. Initially trained at Yale School of Art and later mentored by Schulz himself, Everhart transitioned from traditional illustration and architectural rendering to a bold, expressive painting style after a life-altering battle with cancer in the late 1980s.
"The "Posing" series did grow out of the previous "Hide and Seek" series that focused on the questions of one's attempt to hide their intellectual honesty in order to seek out a newly designed image... a "Poser" tsunami of posturing between who was being real, and who was obviously pretending to be real, often with the intent to deceive, could no longer be ignored." - Tom Everhart
